Small Business

Built for small businesses in Pierce County.

Three flat-rate plans. Real 24/7 monitoring. The same security stack that protects thousands of businesses nationwide — sized and priced for shops with 1 to 10 devices. Month-to-month, no contracts, no hourly invoices.

Already paying $125+/hour for break-fix? Three onsite visits a year and you've spent more than a year of Business Shield — and you still don't have a 24/7 SOC, automated patching, or insurance-ready compliance docs.

Why this can't wait — the numbers

Small businesses are the target now.

2025 industry data on what actually happens when an SMB gets hit. These are the numbers we hand to clients (and their cyber-insurance carriers) when we explain why every plan ships with a hardened security baseline and 24/7 monitoring.

88%1
of SMB breaches in 2025 involved ransomware (vs. 39% at large organizations)
$115K1
median ransom payment in 2025 — before recovery, downtime, or legal costs
81%2
of SMB ransomware claims involve operational shutdown — not just data loss, lost revenue
$84K3
average ransomware claim for a business under $25M revenue — small enough to feel real, large enough to be fatal
82%4
of denied cyber-insurance claims lacked basic MFA — the controls that prevent breaches are the same ones that get claims paid

What you actually get

Two tools doing the heavy lifting. Both included.

Plain-English on what each tool does for your business — and why insurers ask about them by name.

Huntress
Authorized Partner Included on Shield + Fortress

Managed EDR + 24/7 SOC

A lightweight agent on every PC and server. When something suspicious happens — a hidden program, a stolen credential, a ransomware trip-wire — a real human security analyst investigates within minutes and sends a plain-English report with a pre-staged fix. Average response time: 8 minutes. This is what your cyber-insurance carrier means when they ask for "EDR."

  • → Catches attacks antivirus misses — persistence, process injection, living-off-the-land
  • → Ransomware canary files trigger before encryption spreads
  • → Managed ITDR watches your Microsoft 365 identities
  • → Monthly phishing simulations + employee training
  • → Quarterly compliance report satisfies 3 of 7 cyber-insurance requirements
TacticalRMM Action1
TRMM + Action1 Included on every plan

Patch Management & Monitoring

Unpatched software is the #1 way ransomware gets in. Action1 automatically applies Windows updates and third-party patches (Chrome, Adobe, Zoom, QuickBooks, 600+ others) on a defined schedule. TacticalRMM watches every endpoint in real time so we fix most issues without driving to your location.

  • → Critical patches deployed within 24 hours of release
  • → Audit-ready patch reports for insurers and PCI assessors
  • → Alerts fire if a machine goes offline, fills up, or shows hardware errors
  • → Remote support — most issues fixed same day, no truck-roll fee
  • → End-of-life software flagged before it becomes a compliance issue
Why Rainier IT

Why small businesses pick us over the local break-fix shops.

Local

We're in Orting

Same-day response. In-person when needed. One person who knows your business — not a call center.

Insurance-Ready

Audit logs & quarterly reports

Every plan generates the documentation your cyber-insurance carrier asks for at renewal. No scrambling at policy time.

No Contracts

Month-to-month, always

Cancel any time with 30 days' notice. We earn your business every month — not with a 12-month lock-in.

Enterprise Stack

SMB price

Huntress and Action1 protect thousands of businesses nationwide. Same tools the big shops run, sized and priced for Orting.

Authorized technology partners

Real partnerships. Real accountability.

We don't just resell software — we're authorized partners with the vendors whose tools we deploy. That means direct support escalation, partner-only pricing we can pass through, and accountability when something breaks.

Frequently asked

Things people ask before signing.

What counts as a "device"?

Any Windows PC, laptop, or server we manage. Phones, tablets, and printers don't count toward your cap. If you grow past your cap, you keep your plan price and pay the per-device overage on the extras — no forced upgrade.

Is there really no contract?

Correct. Every plan is month-to-month with 30 days' notice to cancel. If we're not earning your business, you should not be stuck.

Do you charge to get us set up?

No. Onboarding is included — agents installed, baseline applied, password manager seeded, your team trained on what we monitor. Usually two weeks end-to-end.

What if we already have antivirus?

We replace it with Microsoft Defender (already on your Windows machines, hardened to CIS L1 by us) and add Huntress Managed EDR on Shield+ for the 24/7 human SOC layer. Your insurer is asking about EDR because legacy antivirus catches roughly half of modern attacks.

What's the difference between Watch and Shield?

Watch keeps your machines patched, monitored, and hardened — it stops you paying hourly for routine problems. Shield adds the part insurers and ransomware-recovery firms care about: 24/7 human eyes on every endpoint, managed identity protection on Microsoft 365, and the quarterly documentation that satisfies cyber-insurance requirements.

Do you do project work outside the monthly fee?

Yes — network rebuilds, server migrations, Microsoft 365 setup, on-site security training. Always quoted up-front, fixed-price where possible.

Free 30-minute assessment.

We listen, ask about your environment, and recommend the smallest plan that actually solves the problem. No sales script.
